When you are a parent, juggling multiple responsibilities – work, kid events, errands, chores… the list is just endless, self-care may fall on the bottom of the to-do list as you work tirelessly to keep up with your daily grind.

Even though it may seem like ignoring your needs is the right thing to do, it could lead you to be irritable, exhausted, unfocused and prone to full-blown burnout.

So, make self-care a top priority!

It's vital to take breaks from the hustle and bustle of life — to pause and recharge. By taking care of yourself, you are then equipped to take better care of the ones you love.

  1.  Start a journal.

Writing down your thoughts could be very therapeutic. Most mental health experts will say it's a great way to address any issues that may be bothering you. Writing down your thoughts on paper gives an opportunity for reflection.

  1. Practice gratitude.

Train your heart to always be grateful. It will help change your view on life when you are more optimistic. Modeling and teaching your children how to be grateful is a precious gift.

  1. Take time to meditate.

Take a deep breath and practice being still in the moment. Finding time to wind down from being in grind mode helps to prevent burnout.

  1. Exercise.

Did you know that exercising releases endorphins? That means exercising makes you happy! Exercise could be anything from taking a walk to running a marathon. Eitherway, try to make exercise a part of your daily routine.

  1.  Switch up your self-care routine.

Your self-care routine could manifest in many ways and is unique to you. Take time out to do something that makes you feel good-on the inside and out!
